Satyagraha by baba Ramdev
Baba Ramdev, India's well-known yoga guru, has now taken center stage as a crusader against corruption and black money hoarded abroad. He began a satyagraha on June 4, 2011 to goad the government into checking corruption and recover crores of black money buried in foreign bank accounts.
Thousands of Baba Ramdev's supporters were gathered at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan on Saturday, June 4 2011 and many more were expected to join him through the day.
Ramdev had earlier said that he expects hundreds of thousands of people to join him when he goes on a hunger strike. His supporters clearly did not let him down.
Former VHP leader Sadhvi Ritambara also shared the stage with him. Before launching the fast, Baba Ramdev held a yoga and bhajan session during which he told the gathering that his protest was intended to "save the country from corruption and ensure that the poor get a good life."
Baba Ramdev's anti-corruption campaign has the support of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS). With no 'Bharat Mata' poster on stage and frequent musings about his protest's non-political character, Baba Ramdev is trying hard to dispel notions that his agitation is a Sangh Parivar-sponsored one. However, the presence of people like Sadhvi Ritambara and a host of sadhus raised eye-brows at the Ramlila protest site though the dais also saw the participation of some clerics from Muslim, Jain and Sikh communities.
During his speeches throughout the day, Ramdev at regular intervals reminded his followers and media that his protest has no political colour and his only intention was to fight against corruption. The yoga icon was evicted from Delhi after midnight police action and scenes of violence at the site of his hunger strike. The Baba spent last night in the protection of the Delhi Police and was flown out from the Palam airport. He broke down as he described how he wept and told "cops to stop misbehaving with women supporters", but to no avail, he said. Baba Ramdev, who initially escaped the police dressed as a woman, said he was not dressed in a white salwar-kurta because he wanted to and described how he spent hours hidden among women.
What Baba Ramdev wants?
Bring back black money stashed in banks abroad.
Death penalty for those guilty of corruption.
Currency notes of high denomination withdrawn.
Making local languages compulsory in higher education.
He is a yoga guru and helped lot of diseased patients.
He is raising his head against corruption. What's wrong in it as we all know situation in India.
He wanted to bring back black money which is very much possible for Indian government.
He is having support of millions of Indians.
Even he is wrong beating women in night is not a good act.
All this is just a political drama.
Different political parties are supporting baba from behind and taking advantage of him. It's all political.
His demands are not justify .You can't stop printing 500 and 1000 notes. Death punishment is inhuman. And engineering in local languages will create more difficulties for students and India will further broke.
The Baba who is against globalization, believes in a welfare state, who thinks that Sex education should be banned in Schools and Homosexuality is a disease.
It may be political stunt or it could be voice of a true Indian. What management should focus on fighting with corruption? Beating of common people was another act where local management failed. All babas and socialist follow law. And they should not take support from the political parties.
