I always did my best work when I had a chance to learn something and when I could see some tangible results from my efforts.
A couple of things motivate me to do my best work.
Foremost it is when I manage to do my job without causing patients pain or causing them less pain than other phlebotomists or aides, when I am working as an aide. A patient's smile and thanks can really brighten my day.
There is nothing quite like a smile from a patient who is afraid of blood draws or medical staff or who is in chronic pain that you have managed to not add to because of your skill and bedside manner.
After that recognition from my superiors, after that recognition from my boss.
Ability is what youre capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it...
I have to do my best whatever it is that I am trying to do. Even the small things. That way I never have to be ashamed of the outcome, I always know I put forth my best effort.
By taking pride in what ever I do
