Bharathiar University inks Memorandum of Understanding with CRC-CARE More Details...

Coimbatore: A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the BU-DRDO (Bharathiar University-Defence Research and Development Organisation) Centre for Life Sciences of Bharathiar University and CRC-CARE (Cooperative Research Centre for Contamination Assessment and Remediation of the Environment) and its five partner universities, at Adelaide in Australia recently. The MoU entails path-breaking research work in challenging and impact areas between the two parties and the five universities, namely University of South Australia, Southern Cross University, University of Technology, Sydney, University of Queensland and Curtin University of Technology. Business week It was signed by G. Thiruvasagam, Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiar University and Raveendra Naidu, Managing Director of CRC-CARE in the presence of Minister of Higher Education K. Ponmudi, Higher Education Secretary K. Ganesan and Sujan R. Chinoy, Consul General of India. The group from Tamil Nadu were part of a delegation who visited Southern Australia from August 6 to 10 to take part in the ?International Education Business Week?. The collaboration will take the universities into deeper levels in areas of science and technology, research and education. It will strengthen joint defence research, environmental engineering and expand focus to provide solutions to common issues concerning India and Australia. Environmental remediation Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ponmudi said that the agreement would open the chance of Australian funding for Indian scientific projects. While underlining the synergising of talent and know-how of the two countries, he looked forward to cooperation in areas of environmental remediation to help boost agriculture.
