<FONTsize=2><FONTsize=2>Post Graduate Programme inManagement:(PGDM) size=2>The course enables a studentto face the challenges of modeling unstructured business problems andproposing solutions to such problems. The main thrust of training at theInstitute is to imbibe a sense of strategic outlook to management problemsin the students. The emphasis, therefore, is on management as anintegrated process and requires the students to develop a global view ofeconomic, technological, cultural and political environment of thebusiness. Though the program provides opportunities for specialization,the objective is to train high level decision makers with broad strategicvision.The first year is committed todeveloping business fundamentals through compulsory courses spanning theareas of economics, finance, marketing, operations, systems and behavioralsciences. The second year offers more number of electives than any otherB-School in India.
    Post Graduate Programme in ComputerAided Management:(PGDCM) size=2>This programme, the first ofits kind in the country, integrates Information Technology with managementtheory and practice. Now into its seventh year, it focuses on training anew class of managers who can leverage IT to realize the objectives of anorganization. size=2>The PGDCM programme is conducted in tandem with the PGDM course. Inthe First Year, PGDCM students take up common courses in Marketing,Finance, Operations, Behavioral Sciences, etc along with PGDM students, inaddition to basic courses in Management Information Systems. The format ofthe Summer Internship for PGDCM students is exactly the same as that forPGDM students. In the Second Year, they can specialize in Marketing,Finance, Operations, Strategy, HR, etc., apart from the compulsoryspecialization in Systems. Eligibility Criteria forAdmission to Post Graduate Programs size=2>IndianStudents:The candidate must hold a Bachelor's Degree from anyof the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or statelegislature in India or other educational institutions established by anact of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under section 3of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by theMinistry of HRD, Government of India. The Bachelor's Degree or equivalentqualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of threeyears of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) orequivalent. Candidates appearing for the final year Bachelor's degree (orequivalent) examination are also eligible to apply, provided they completeall their graduating requirements, including practicalexaminations/viva/assignments, on or before June 30, 2006. Such candidateswill have to produce a certificate to this effect at the time ofadmission. Candidates who complete their graduation with supplementaryexaminations/practicals/viva/assignments after June 30, 2006 are noteligible for admission to the Post Graduate Programmes in 2006. No formal specialization in either computers or management would berequired for admission to the program. However, knowledge of mathematicsat the graduate level would be assumed. Open University graduates must show proof of minimum three years afterclass twelve and a certificate from the university equivalent to abachelors degree. Diplomas like Hotel Management, Fashion Technology are not eligibleunless equivalent certificates to a three year university degree areprovided. OverseasCandidates:Non-Resident Indians and foreign nationalsresiding outside India for a considerable period of time will be eligibleto seek admission to the two year residential Post Graduate Programmes inManagement (PGDM and PGDCM) at the Indian Institute of Management,Calcutta as "Overseas Candidates". Overseas candidates seeking admissionsto the Post-Graduate Programmes in Management can take GMAT and apply inthe prescribed form available on their website <Ahref="http://www.iimcal.ac.in/index.asp">http://www.iimcal.ac.in/index.asp.A copy of the GMAT score must accompany the form. The score should not beolder than two years as on February 15, 2006 which is the last date forreceiving applications. This means that if you are good enough to getadmitted to the program, you do not need to worry about financing yourway. There are many ways out. EducationalLoansVarious banks provideeducational loans on easy terms. Some of the banks that students have beenassociated with are Allahabad Bank, State Bank of India, Citibank, HDFC,etc. They require a copy of the offer letter from the Institute, an LICpolicy to the tune of the loan amount, and a few otherdocuments.<FONTface=Verdana size=2>Scholarships size=2>The institute offers limited financial assistance to deservingstudents enrolled in PGDM/PGDCM. The assistance is provided by a number oforganizations. Meritorious students studying in the second year may beawarded teaching assistantship and are paid a stipend for thesame. AdmissionProcessAll the candidateshave to appear for Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted jointly by thesix IIM's.The short listing and selection procedure for PGDCM is same asthat of PGDM, but they have to take the Aptitude Test in Mathematics (ATM)in addition to CAT. Performance of the candidates in this test is takeninto consideration for final selection. size=2>Post Graduate Diploma in BusinessManagement (PGDBM)<FONTsize=2> IIMC launched this 3-Year Part TimeEvening Programme of Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM)in 1994 as one of its major initiatives. size=2>Through this programme, IIMC facilitates a process for the studentsto integrate their real-life work experiences with the conceptual andanalytical foundations and development in management disciplines. The objective of the programme isto prepare students for careers in teaching and research in Management orin the related disciplines, and also for positions outside academics,which require advanced research and analytical capabilities. The fellowprogram at IIMC focuses on training outstanding scholars whose teachingand research will advance management education and practice, and iscapable of meeting the continued need for qualified faculty in leadingbusiness schools in India and abroad.Manyof its graduates, are now serving in research environments in industrialfirms around the world, and are in top academic positions in the leadingbusiness schools in India and are leaders in their fields.  size=2>EligibilityTheCandidate should hold any of the following degrees :PostGraduate Management Diploma or equivalent professionalqualification.Post Graduate Management in otherdisciplineBachelors degree in Engineering orTechnologyFinal year students of bachelors or masters degree may alsoapply. Candidates must alsosubmit a Fellow Programme Application Form to the Fellow Programme Officeof the Institute.Those who qualify on thebasis of the CAT performance, and who meet the eligibility criteria statedabove, are called for interview around the middle of April. A PGDM/PGDCM holder of any of the Indian Institutes of Management whowishes to enter the Fellow Programme need not take CAT, if her/hiscumulative grade point average (CGPA) is 6.00/9.00 and above or itsequivalent. size=2>WaiversGraduates ofthe six IIMs who are admitted to the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)and have a CGPA of 6.00/9.00 and above (or its equivalent) areautomatically eligible to proceed to the second year of the FellowProgramme.Students with the equivalent ofPGDM from any of the universities/institutes with a minimum CGPA of6.00/9.00 or equivalent, may request for waiver of first year courses, andthis may be granted at the discretion of the Fellowship Research &Publication (FRP) Committee. Similarly, for students with a master's degree, pursuing the FellowProgramme in any of the pure discipline areas, waivers may be granted forparticular courses to suitably qualified candidates on the basis of theirprior proficiency. The FRP Committee on the basis of the recommendation ofthe faculty advisor would grant such waivers. For NRI/Foreign candidates, there would be no automatic waivers forfirst year courses. However, the general rules for waiver on therecommendation of the Faculty Advisor and the ratification of the FRPCommittee would be followed. Financial AidAll students are awarded ascholarship of Rs. 10,000/- per month. In addition to the scholarship, thestudents are entitled upto Rs.20,000/- per year, for contingencyexpenditure and field work as per Institute's rules. Additional funds uptoRs. 20,000/-, for the entire tenure of FP student, can be availed forfield work during thesis stage. On completion of comprehensive qualifying examiniation (CQE), studentswould get a scholarship of 11,000/-per month.Scholarships from InfosysTechnologies: Infosys Technologies Limited has constituted two scholarships amountingto Rs.15,000/- per month for a maximum period of three years for studentsdoing their research in MIS. The students are entitled to upto Rs.45,000/-per year, for contingency expenditure and field work as per Institute'srules
