Post graduate programme inmanagement (PGP) The twoyear Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management is a full-timeresidential programme This programme prepares the young graduatesfor senior level positions in industry and other sections. In the firstyear, the students undergo 58 credit foundation courses in variousfunctional areas, followed by 8-10 weeks of summer training in businessand industrial organisations. The second year comprises two foundationcourses of 3 minimum of 45 credit elective courses. The students areencouraged to have 2 areas of specialisations.The programme lays great emphasis on knowledge assimilation than onlyimparting it. Towards this it uses a wide variety of pedagogies: lectures,case studies, exercises, role-plays, simulation, video shows etc. Theevaluation system is rigorous one comprising quizzes, assignments,mid-term and term end examinations. The programme also lays emphasis onlearning to learn through requirements of library-based self-study, groupwork, open-ended discussions and real life projects.EligibilityThecandidate must hold a Bachelors Degree of any of the Universitiesincorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India orother educational institutions established by an act of Parliament ordeclared to be deemed as a University under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, orpossess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD,Government of India. The Bachelors Degree or equivalent qualificationobtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years ofeducation after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) orequivalent.Candidates appearing for the final Bachelorsdegree/equivalent qualification examination can also apply. In case of foreignnationals, TOEFL scores should also be produced.The candidatesseeking admission under NRI quota should produce with the application acertificate from the Indian Embassy/High Commission/Consulate of thecountry where the candidate is currently based, stating that the candidatehas been resident in that country continuously for a period of not lessthan 18 months as on December 31, 2005.3 letters ofrecommendation.Children of NRI's are eligible if the parent isresident abroad continuously for at least 18 months as onDecember 31, 2005.SelectionProcedureCandidates seeking admission to the Institute'sPost-Graduate Programme (PGP) commencing July 2006 are required to appearfor the Common Admission Test (CAT) which will be conducted on November20, 2005. Selection to the Post-Graduate Programme is based on criteriaincluding the candidate's performance in CAT, academic record, workexperience, group discussion and interview.Fees and ExpensesFor Domestic candidates:Yearly expenses ontuition, library, computer, teaching material and hostel accommodationpresently total up to Rs. 1,25,000 for the first year and Rs. 1,35,000 forthe second year. Boarding is in addition to this. However, the fee islikely to be revised from the academic year 2006-07onwards.For NRI / Foreign candidates:Theannual expenses on tuition, library, computing facility, teachingmaterials and hostel accommodation presently total up to US$ 8,000 payableat the beginning of each academic year. All other expenses includingboarding charges will be borne directly by the student.Financial AssistanceSubstantialneed-based scholarships are available for students belonging toeconomically disadvantaged families. The Institute also assists studentsinterested in acquiring educational loans from financial institutionssubject to their meeting the stipulated conditions. In addition, currentlya couple of full scholarships are also provided.Reserved SeatsAs per theGovernment of India requirement 15% and 7% seats are reserved for SC andST candidates, respectively.3% seats are reserved for Persons withDisability (PWD). The three categories of disability are a)low-vision/blindness, b) hearing impairment, and c) locomotordisability/cerebral palsy.Post Graduate Certificate Program inManagementPGCPM is a 1-year intensiveprogramme in General Management, designed specifically for workingprofessionals/executives running its 4th batch. The certificate will beawarded directly by Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode. The studentshave to attend a 5 day in-campus programme which shall be intimated withthe admission offer document at the IIMK campus inKozhikode (Calicut), Kerala. The student will have to travel toCalicut at their own cost for the same. The evaluation and certificationwill be done by IIMK.EligibiltyTheentry to PGCPM is restricted to graduates having at least 3 years of workexperience . The selection is based on a selection test (eMAT) conductedby IIMK every year. This is meant to test the analytical, verbal andnumerical abilities of the candidate.SelectionAll candidates wishing to participate inthe program are required to take a written entrance examination eMAT 4scheduled as per the Notification. The results of this test combined withthe candidates' work experience & job profiles will be analyzed byIIMK and a list of shortlisted candidates will be published. Obviously,better scores in eMAT 4 and better work experience will improve yourprospects of selection for admission into PGCPM programme.CourseConductionThis is NOT a correspondence programme. This willuse the DirecWay Global Education satellite broadband infrastructure todeliver real time, synchronous, live education to all participatingstudents. The interaction is live and uses high quality video, audio anddata. The studios for the programme are at IIMKs campus in Kozhikodeand in Gurgaon. The professors will teach from these studios. The studentswill need to come to DirecWay Global Education learning centres atpre-fixed times.They have classrooms at all major cities like Delhi,Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Cochin, Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy, Chennai,Hyderabad, Vadodara, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow, Patna, Trivandrum,Visakhapatnam, Pune etc.
