The Xavier Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship (XIME), Bangalore was established in June 1991 to contribute to excellence in Management and Entrepreneurship education in India.

The Institute is founded by a group of well-known educationists, who have made significant contributions in the fields of Management & Professional Education in the country.
The President of XIME society is Rt. Rev. Dr. Alphonsus Mathias, Archbishop Emeritus of Bangalore. The Chairman of the Board of Governors of XIME is Mr. Sarosh J. Ghandy, Former Managing Director, Telcon Ltd. of TATA Group and Former Chairman of XLRI.
The Director of the Institute is Prof. J. Philip, Former Director of Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore, Former Dean of XLRI-Jamshedpur, and the Founder President of the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS). In September 1998, the Association of Indian Management Schools had conferred on him the prestigious Ravi J Mathai National Fellow Award in Management for his outstanding life-time contribution to the cause of Management Education in India.

Quality and Relevance in Management Education, and Service to the industry and Society were the key concerns of the founding group.

Mission of XIME
XIME is a non-profit organization whose primary objective is the promotion of managerial competence in the key sectors of the society.XIME strives to ensure that the management graduates it produces would not only be efficient corporate managers but also responsible corporate citizens imbued with a positive set of values. It constantly reviews and updates its curriculum and pedagogy towards this end.XIME has a commitment for upgrading the management quality in small scale and entrepreneurial organizations and executes this commitment through special short duration programmes.
XIME believes that the social sector deserves priority for achieving balanced national development and reflects this belief through specially designed programmes for those working in education, health and social service fields.
In all that it does, XIME strives to promote ethical and moral values, as well as respect for the composite culture and rich traditions of the country.


Courses Offered

Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management

This MBA equivalent course is the core of XIMEs management education programs. It is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India. XIME proudly sent out their First Batch of the Program in 1997 and is gearing up for the graduation of the 9th batch in April 2005.

The First Year of the course starts with a coverage of Foundation Subjects imparting to the students, a sound knowledge of the essential functional areas of business.

In the Second Year, the emphasis shifts to elective courses, which are designed to give the student as wide a choice as possible, to specialize in areas of their interest and acquire advanced knowledge and skills.

The Students can choose their field of specialisation in the second year of the course. The specialisations offered include:
Human Resource
Productions & Operations Management
International Business

The programme rounds off with a strong emphasis on integrative and value-oriented courses such as Business Policy, Business Ethics and Environmental Issues so as to make the student not only a competent manager, but also a socially responsible citizen. Considering the phenomenal growth and importance of IT industry, current topics related to IT are included in the programme.

A summer project spread over two months between the First and Second Years enables the students to put into practice many of the key concepts they have learnt by then. This is further reinforced by the Internship, which follows in the V Term.

Candidates for XIMEs Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) are required to have a bachelors degree from a recognised university in any discipline with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates).

Admission Process
To ensure selection of high caliber students, XIME makes use of a well designed selection procedure.
The first round of filtration takes place through the XAT test. The CAT/GMAT test also will be considered similar to XAT test for admission to XIME Candidates who make it to the next round are put through a challenging process of group discussions and personal interviews.In addition to the rigorous procedure detailed above, previous academic record and work experience are given due weightage for admission. A purely merit based selection procedure guarantees high student quality at XIME.

First Year
Rs. 1,20,000 : Payable in four instalments (Rs. 35,000, 35,000, 25,000 and 25,000)
Second year
Rs. 1,30,000 : Payable in four instalments (Rs. 35,000, 35,000, 30,000 and 30,000)

Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management

This program is addressed to young men and women working as executives / supervisors in industries or commercial enterprises and it has been designed to provide up-to-date and broad-based knowledge, perspective and skills needed for effective performance by practicing executives.

In addition to building comprehensive knowledge and understanding of real business life, the program also emphasizes the use of analytical tools and quantitative methods in managerial decision-making.

The program covers all key aspects of the managerial job and aims to develop analytical, problem solving and decision making capabilities as well as to inculcate in the participants a set of positive attitudes and values which are needed in a successful managerial career.
Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Management

The objective of the PGDCM is to develop a mature and competent professional techno-manager with the potential to manage construction business / projects at home and abroad, and having the following skills and competencies.

Sound knowledge of the theory and practice of corporate mangement.
proficiency in information technology,finance and people mangement skills.
Sound knowledge of construction business and economic environment of the industry.
Proficiency in various aspects of funding,resource mobilization and capital structure of major construction projects.
Facility to apply knowledge and skills for effective delivery of projects / functional tasks.

The programme duration is around 12 months, which is divided into 4 terms of 12 weeks each. The 1st,2nd,4th terms are devoted to classroom learning,acquiring necessary knowledge skills and perspective to function as a competent techno-manager.

The student will devote his third term in an internship programme in a major construction company acquiring hands-on experience in construction management. The IT workshop, communication workshop and project mangement simulations will give the students intense learning experiences and confidence to face the real world challenges of the construction industry, Special attention will be given to developing in the student a global perspective
